Creating a promotional flyer for Music4You to acquire participants for a music project
Introduction
For this project I was tasked to create a flyer to promote an upcoming orchestra project. This flyer was specifically created for primary school children and their parents. It was a relatively easy, but fun project.

Background
For this project I was tasked to create a flyer to promote an upcoming orchestra project. Before starting this project, I gathered information from the stakeholders. I discussed things such as:
- The goals of the project
- The expectations and conditions of the project. Deadlines, existing branding, etc.
- The target audience, and what do they know about them
- Important info to display on the promo materials
Reason for choosing a flyer:
- Low cost
- Target audience is locally accessible (the flyer was going to be spread in schools)
- Relatively easy to create
The project
In this project there was time pressure, so me and the stakeholders decided that I’d make some concepts of the flyer to the best of my abilities. I would then present the flyer concepts and the stakeholders would then give feedback on what I’ve made.
Before starting designing I decided on the hierarchy of information displayed on the flyer. The most important thing was for people to understand what is being promoted. I especially emphasized this part of the flyer.
I chose to create 3 quick concepts. Since the stakeholders wanted a simple flyer (as that fit the general aesthetic of other, related promo materials), I kept this into account when creating my designs. After making the concepts, I presented them to a group of stakeholders to gather feedback and to choose a concept. The feedback was that they liked the general aestethic, but that some text and colors would need to be changed.
The final design can be seen below.
Learnings
- Dealing with time pressure and that its sometimes better to design something without knowing everything I’d like to know first. Since this was a relatively simple project and there was time pressure, it was necessary to start designing earlier than I was used to previously.
